The Support Program for Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR)

Each of the millions of people who leave their home in search of a better life has its own story. Returning home is an important decision. If you are a citizen of a non European Union country, you have lost your right to legally stay in Romania, regardless if you came for studies, work seeking asylum, or you entered Romania irregularly but want to go home, you can learn from the following videos who can help you and how.

Since April 2017, IOM Romania has assisted more than 80 migrants to voluntarily return home through the Support Program for Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR). The rogram is running until 2020 with financial support from the National Program – Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) of the European Union.

The voluntary repatriation program is a humanitarian one and addresses migrants from non-EU countries or from the European Economic Area who have lost their right of legal residence in Romania (students, workers, etc.) and who wish to return to their countries of origin. This program can also benefit asylum seekers who have received a negative decision, but also those who have not yet received a final decision but want to quit the procedure and return home.
